Summer Update for WednesdayWhat a difference a day makes! With no appointments till 11:00, the ladies slept in. They were both better rested when we headed for the St. Jude campus. Summer had Speech Therapy at 11:00, which was a lot less taxing on her than the physical therapy. At noon, she had her adult patient group meeting. It is a fun hour for her each week. She enjoys this time so much with this group of friends who are living many of the same experiences right now. At 2:00 she had her mental health appointment. It is so awesome that St. Jude makes this an automatic part of cancer treatment here. They try to make sure each patient focuses on staying well emotionally as well as physically. It was raining and really chilly when we came out, so headed back to Target House for the evening. After dinner, we watched a movie and chatted quite awhile. It was obvious that the blood transfusions gave Summer a tremendous lift. She was much steadier on her feet and more talkative all day. I knew she was feeling much more like herself when the make fun of Gramps lines started coming out of her one right after another. That’s ok…I will let her poke fun at me all she wants if it keeps her laughing and at her own quick wit! I love it. The three of us had a great day. It’s a light schedule again today, so all is looking good for a slow paced Thursday.
What a difference from one day to the next! Sounds like a ‘feel good’ weekend ahead?
