St Jude – Wednesday Launch

Posted on May 24, 2023May 24, 2023

Angela had us up at 6AM today to get ready for the road.  No matter how much we rushed…  After getting meds, supplies, and her access removed…  It was 10:30 before we were able to leave.

But at least we were able to leave!

Angela got us out of Memphis for a few hours… And then it was my turn to drive.  We had already missed the Johnny Cash boyhood home… So, I had to find somewhere to stop.  I added a stop at St. Genevieve National Historic Park so that the girls could get a Jr. Ranger badge.  The park is essentially a whole town built by French settlers.  Very pretty and history going back to the 1700’s.  Way more time is required than what we had.  Regardless, they did have time to watch the park video and visit with the Ranger.  They are now certified St. Genevieve Junior Rangers.

On the way home…  We all had to agree on someplace to stop and eat.  We were all content to grab some Jimmy Johns when Summer spotted a White Castle.  I made a wrong-way turn to get here there because she was pretty sure she would like that more.  She knocked down one slider and I figured she was done.  Then she put down a second.  It may not be the best thing in the world… But it was satisfying to see her enjoy some food regardless.

We had a traffic snarl north of Springfield and barely got home in time for Summer and Olivia to make their pedicure appointment.

Tomorrow we make like a tree… and get out of here.  Hoover has a National Historic Park near Iowa City.  It opens at 9.  That means, leave here at 6:30.   If they can secure ranger badges in a timely fashion… We will plan on a full day of driving to North Platte Nebraska.  That is a great jumping-off point for a bunch of places we want to go into North Dakota.

It’s going to be a long day…  Watch my Instagram and Facebook stories for all the fun!

Also… I reached back out to Bonaroo…  We should start getting that secured as well.

The cat should be well entertained while we are gone. Linda comes out to the house and later in the next week or two, Ekhoff Construction will be working on Summer’s bathroom.  We told them to blow it up a few months ago…  We are behind schedule, hopefully, the changes make her time at our house easier.

Sweet Sherbet is in charge while you are gone. I will be well guarded.
