I think we regained some semblance of balance and well-being today…. Much needed or I might not make it to the weekend!
It was a good morning…
Summer was full of energy this morning and it was noticeable within seconds of talking to her. Granted, first thing was 10 AM. It probably helped that we both got some well-deserved sleep after two days of late nights at the hospital.
Today, we ran to St. Jude for Summer’s appointments at midday. She sent me to go grocery shopping because she was out of Boathouse Mocha drinks and was desperate for oyster crackers. I ran to Kroger while she did Childlife and a psychiatric visit.
When I came back, we went to the Cafe. I was so pleased that she was walking and not needing a wheelchair!
On the way back to Target House, we talked about the appointments. Summer said that the mental health services provided by St. Jude are actually very nice. With all that is going on in her life, getting sick a few weeks ago and her St. Joseph friend Patrick passing away… She lacks anyone who she can confide all of her emotions with. She said that boils down to a lot of these problems being compartmentalized in different sections of her life. Times, places, and relationships she has not shared with everyone… Even her boyfriend. Sounds like another great thing that St. Jude thinks about when they bring you in.
See how nice I am being? I am trying to be a better man after all my evil thoughts and words over the past 2 nights!
We got back in time today to get mail and packages! A card from Grandma Stahl required my expert translation, as her cursive is not able to be read by anyone in my family. It was a nice letter. An odd little hat came from CatTurd.com… It had us in stitches. I think we figured out who sent that. Summer got some earrings from Aunty Candi… And then went into a rant that she has no decent clothes to wear them with! I guess we need to bring MORE clothes down here!
Ahhh… More normal!
Later I prepared some food. Leftovers from the dinner we missed last night in Target House. Pulled Pork from One and Only BBQ. They have been super about feeding us over the months we have been here with St. Jude. Love their meals.
We sat down and watched some predictable movie with a guy from some British boy band and the new Captain Kirk. Meh. I did payroll. Summer said “meh” when I said we should watch “Prey”… The new Predator movie on HULU.
Tomorrow we start off at 7:30 again. Labs. I am hoping, based on her energy level that the numbers are all good and we head into the rest of the week with normal appointments and consults.
Fingers crossed!
Hi, Honey. Such good news to hear that your labs were better today and you were able to go to your Child Life meeting. Love you lots, Grandma Linda.
