Went back to old Fairbury last night to hang out with the class of Prairie Central 1989… What a letdown!!! There were like 20 people there! Out of 124 graduates (119 still living) that is a pretty poor showing.
Some highlights of the night were hearing Zach Storks recollections of the 1980’s when classes were sharing their high school memories. One guy, from a class I dont recall started railing on our economy being in shambles and how its probably Barack Obama’s fault… Please! I am no fan of Barak… But I certainly dont need to hear about current problems in a speech from the class of 59 or whatever!
So, it was a mixed bag. The banquet winded down, and they fired up the DJ… God I hate DJ’s. Here comes the ACDC and other crap blaring… And we are all yelling at each other… I dont feel like this is an age thing… I like loud music… But, it was obvious that nobody was dancing… So, what was the point? Turn it down a few notches Wolfman Jack!
We headed over to an after-party at Tammy Bennet’s house (Nice place!) and had a beers with some folks who did not go to the banquet. Glad I did that… Got to catch up with a few more people.

Above: This was my 20 year… But this was also Grandma Stahl’s 60th and Sylvia Penrods 40th. Kinda cool huh?
Afterthoughts: The poor attendance really bugged me. I am not a big fan of these things… But I think that we may need to reconsider how this is all organized. Maybe have a big party in Bloomington to something the day of the event. Something that is a mix of family and adult fun. Just a thought… See me in 5 years to see if I still care!
