I love the assumed value of the day as being “Fun”. There’s a lot of pressure in that!
The trip from Key West to Grand Cayman was scheduled to take a full day. Some of the other boaters said that they can make this trip in one night if they haul ass…
Conspiracy theories on why not:
- Saves Gas.
- More time for passengers to drink and spend money on board.
Personally… I have been on a ship when it was going “maximum warp”… And it makes for an unpleasant feeling in my stomach. So, I personally appreciate a slow and calm approach!
From March 2011 |
Our day started like most days… Get up around 8… Head up to the Freedom Buffet restaurant… Go back and get dressed for a day by the pool. We swung all of that within an hour or so… And headed up to the main pool deck by 9:30.
IT WAS PACKED!!!
All the pool area chairs were marked and folded over. Cruise veterans had already scoured the deck and secured all the premium seating! Ang and I conceded for some seats up towards the middle “Lower bowl”. It was fine really. We could see Aiden in the hot tub… And sometimes see a glint of Summer hanging with her posse of girlfriends that she seemed to instantly acquire. We only needed 2 seats… Since the kids would have no interest in sitting down with us while we were sunning and reading.
All in all… It was a decent day. FUN? I guess. We had good weather… Kinda windy. But sunny. And that was all that really matters.
Later that afternoon, Ang unloaded on me that we had our first formal night in the dining room. I HATE FORMAL DINING!!! I didn’t bring anything more than some Columbia slacks and a button down shirt. I didn’t even hide that I was wearing my sandals! They still let us in. They were rejecting some people for lack of dress code.
Next up… Grand Cayman!
