Ran into a guy from my High School class last night at the Peoria Chiefs game. Turns out that my HS alma mater, Prairie Central had about 200 kids sitting behind us on some kind of class trip. (How weird is that?)
Anyway… I had turned around and scanned the crowd to see if there was anyone there I knew. But I didnt see a face that I recognized. That’s no surprising, they have had consolidation with Chenoa in the past 10 years. And, I have been away from the ‘burg for a LONG time.
As I was coming back to the seats after getting the kids some cotton candy, I was stopped by my old classmate. Kevin Kafer. We chatted for a few minutes and asked how each other were doing. He’s doing great and it sounds like the camper business is coming back. Probably very similar to how the car business is doing now.
Anyway, after all this setup, I will get to the point of this post!
“I’m doing good… Actually, everything is great” was my response when put to the question of how my life is going. My mind had raced to think of any struggles or impending problems we are dealing with. (Other than the end of the world predicted for Saturday) None came to mind. Sure, we could have better cars… Newer house… More money to throw around… A real Internet connection… More hair etc….
But, all in all… Life is good. I’m doing great!
Funny how turning 40 lets you realize there are worse problems than we have to be struggling with.
I’m sure Monday a tech will look cross-eyed at another guy in the shop and I will be ready to murder someone. But as of Friday night… I’m doing great!
