Wow… After years of paying the IRS.. We may be in the black for a change. Thanks largely in part to tuition for both kids. That and adding a new tank-less water-heater and 3 replacement windows.
I think Ang and I were both shocked!
Spring is officially here… I have to fix the clothesline that was broken by a ROLLING playhouse. (gotta love that wind tunnel we live in!) With laundry on the line, I can be assured that our underwear will be in full view when friends and family come over to visit!
Speaking of wind…. I was looking into a windmill. I know it sounds crazy, but they have some pretty cool mills that can roll back your electric meter. I have no doubt that we can get excessive winds, I just don’t know about a constant breeze. This will probably be a project for the next year or 2.
Right now, Kreiling roofing has started working on the front and rear porch roofs. Both were made out of tin at the turn of the century. Both leak when it rains. I have tried to run beads of caulk down the seams that are letting water in, but it just gets cracked and peeled after a year or 2. In the meantime. My back porch ceiling keeps getting ruined paint from all the water.
Our original plan for working on the back porch was to redo the whole thing, bottom to top, but after getting a few estimates, we figured that would not work. We wanted to replace the metal roof with another metal roof. Everyone that came out to talk about “Sunrooms” wanted to shingle it. Sorry, I am not being a snob about it, but we want to keep things original when it makes sense. A shingle roof here would be falling apart after one year of winds. We decided to have the roof done first, and then see about replacement windows and flooring after its done.
Kreiling is started… Hopefully, we will see a finished product in the next week? Oh, and this means my next project is paining the front porch. Since my “its leaking water” excuse will be dried up? (Rim shot!)
Got the convertible out again, so it must be spring. I have to say. Its a lot nicer to spend 20.00 a week in gas on that, than 60 on the truck. Both have about the same amount of space in the back seat!
With our new found warmth… Ang is staring the exercise bandwagon again… Soon enough, when the sun is out at 5:30…. I will be on my bike with her… Listening to podcasts… And wishing I was back in bed. Wish me luck!
