It’s Sunday night and Summer and I are back in Memphis. No news to share from this weekend. If you haven’t noticed… I don’t really blog on the weekend nights if we are not at the hosptial.
I have a friend who used to celebrate her birthday “month”. I had never heard of such a thing, but her husband let her get away with it… So, it became a “thing” every year when she would talk about it at work (Fort’s). This Saturday, Summer turns 21 and we are going to go as far as celebrating this for the next week. I’ll let a future husband or boyfriend fall into the trap of a birthday month for Summer.
We have a lot to get accomplished this week and we are not 100% certain that she will get to come home for her birthday. I would say we are at 80% sure based on what should happen over the next few days.
Last Friday morning, we had our appointments completed and then headed over to E Clinic to tell Katie, Summer’s program nurse that she WOULD be saving eggs. This, as I mentioned in my last post, was a rush decision because of the chemotherapy change. Even that morning, Angela and Summer were going back and forth about this procedure. I was pushed out of Summer’s room while they were arguing over the phone.
I honestly did not even know what she had decided until we got to St. Jude Friday morning.
With this decision, Summer’s treatment schedule will be updated for this coming weeks. If everything goes as it should… Summer will get her chest “port” so we can stop having her freak out when they install IVs in her arms or hands, or ankles… or whatever! This will require a small procedure. She should also have her consult and start getting fertility meds to start a hyperproduction of eggs for extraction next week. If all this happens and we get a clear window, I can drive Summer home Friday for her birthday on Saturday.
We are still waiting to nail down details until we have some confirmation. That may come tomorrow, but likely Tuesday. KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!
We are hoping for a party that everyone can stop by and attend at our house… And then taking her to Maquet’s Rail House so she can order a drink at the bar.
Again… Perfect world. Let’s get her home first!
Summer does have a wish list on Amazon if anyone needs a gift idea. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2WC9IDTPC7RHJ
I also have a friend who used to celebrate her birthday “month”; maybe it is the same friend? No matter, I think it is a great idea!!!
We’ll keep Saturday open! Hopefully it’s time to party!
