Saturday was another “chill” day.
Dr. Klimo came in today and checked on Summer. He was totally thrilled with her progress. Actually, he said she was doing exactly what he expected. He is sticking by his guns so that she can be back at Target House on Monday. I don’t want to build this up too much… But this would be a nice reward before Nate leaves Monday night by AMTRAC.
After lunch, Summer took some meds and had a big nap. The three of us left the hospital and went to a game store and then wandered around an antique mall. I found a weird graphic novel by Eddie Campbell, one of my favorite artists, and picked it up. I feel sorry for Nate… I dont think he gets stuck in antique stores very often.
Summer was up several times today. Her speech and energy were much improved. When we got back after her nap, she was sitting up waiting for us on the couch. (she had been texting Nate, thats a good sign as well!) We played some games of Castle Keep. It’s a basic strategy game with tiles that are easy to handle. I didn’t want to bring the game from home, we have not played it since the kids were super young. But, it turns out that this was the perfect game for her today. Easy to handle and quick. She won 2 out of 3.. And we were not being generous because she is the one in the hospital.
Angela took her on a tour of the artwork around LeBonheur because it is pretty amazing. Summer plopped down in a wheelchair and let Angela and Nate push her around.
Summer has eaten well all day. The meds are dialed-in perfectly. Last night after we left, she told us that she threw up her chicken nuggets. Today, she ate chicken tenders, applesauce, fruit smooth, and some banana. And kept it all down.
Tonight, we ordered some pizza from Pizza Memphis (uninspiring pie) and watched Spiderman into the Multiverse on the hospital’s “on-demand” system.
All of these children’s hospitals have lots of kids’ movies on demand. Young adults are kind of stuck watching lots of Pixar and marvel stuff. This will get REALLY boring over the next year. We watched some American Pickers afterward.
She’s getting stronger by the day… Pray for a quick release from this hospital!
Hi, Honey. Your tour of the artwork sounds exciting; at least more than the walls of your hospital room. Good night before our curfew. Love you lots, Grandma Linda
MY SINCERE PRAYERS FOR YOU TO BE ABLE TO LEAVE THE HOSPITAL TODAY OR MONDAY…SO FIREWORKS CAN BE SEEN BY YOU AND NATE AND FAMILY…LOVE YA KIDDO..CHRIS
WOW, Summer!! It sounds like you are doing much better. I hope you get to see the fireworks.
I love reading the daily updates and can add more precise prayers. So thankful for the talented doctors & staff. Continued prayers for healing ❤️
