Holiday Weekend!
I got to take Summer to school this past Friday. I was off, so it made for a 4 day weekend. Nice! It was very surreal to me, but she was all business, ready to take on the world!
Saturday, we were going to do some road-tripping this weekend, but Aiden woke up saying he had a stomach ache… You know what that means? He’s gonna throw up! He is like old faithful when he makes that statement! Fortunately, after sitting for an hour watching his Astro Boy DVD… He perked up. Instead of heading out on a long trip, we headed down to Allerton Park in Monticello IL. See Pics.
Summer enjoys a hike and a bike trip… Aiden enjoys the biking part! That’s about it! We took all the bikes, even Summer’s big bike she got for her birthday. She begged not to take it… She has been scared of falling off since we got it! Well, we got to the parking lot of Allerton and I convinced her to get on… I ran with her for 10 feet, and she had it! Lesson over!!! She has officially graduated! Aiden moaned and groaned a lot on the hiking part… We had to point out things like snakes, snails, ponds, mud puddles etc to keep in interested! By the time we were done, he was begging to be back at the truck!
Allerton is great, if you have not visited… Make an effort. Lots of trails and beautiful secluded areas. One bad thing for this time of year… Mosquito’s.. Holy cow were they thick!!! We had to hustle when we were down by the Sangamon… You stand around and a cloud of bugs were surrounding you!

Sunday, I somehow convinced Dan and Durand out to the house to help my Father (A mosquito just tried to get me in my own house!!!) in Law, Don start rebuilding the back fence. We rented a 2 man powered auger to do about 30 post holes. It was not bad work with those guys helping! Still, it was hard work. My leg in bruised from where I let the machine dig into me while I was holding it in place. Oh, and I thought I had tennis elbow this morning… I must be getting old!
I have downloaded all of the pictures off my camera phone. I did not take a real picture while we were biking and hiking around Allerton… So I thought I would snap off a few crappy quality shots. Check out that section on the photo page.
