I have been bad about updating the blog.. we have been running back and forth from the Midwest to the Midsouth over the past few days. The days have been full and the last two nights have had me at AMTRAC.
Here is my Facebook update from last night.
The stars aligned for a few minutes today…. Summer went in for labs at 7am and they told her she was clear till Tuesday. Todays transfusion was cancelled!
That doesn’t leave much time, but we can squeeze in a drive to Tremont and back to Memphis in that span. And, we were ordered by Summer to do that.
Powered by a lot of emotion, Prius and 4Runner proceeded to convoy northward at a record pace. Honestly, we had more snow at our house than anywhere along the 7 hour drive.
We got home to a relatively normal house thanks to all of our helpers. Casey’s, Redell’s and Schwenk’s! Thank you all! (All cats and livestock survived!)
We came home and started picking up the mess left on Thursday…. I took the dishes in the sink and scooped the sidewalk. Ang wanted the kitchen and dining room tidied up and everyone of us was scrambling to wrap presents for tomorrow. We got it all done in record time, started a fire and watched a “Wish for Wings that Work” like the old days.
Olivia came over to visit and we all watched Scrooged while sampling her tuna casserole.
I walked past Summers room earlier tonight and she was sitting on the floor and cutting wrapping paper. She looked up and proceeded to yell at me for “peaking”. No time to get sentimental around here.
She has 2 nights in her own bed, 1 full day here and she and Angela will head back Monday afternoon.
We did miss our big family Christmas at my sister Sylvia’s… but that was not unexpected. We are trying to keep Summer away from the little nieces and nephews because she still has lower counts. This means dodging my first family Christmas in eons. One more way that 2022 has been transformed.
Tonight at home with the family felt pretty great. Hope everyone else feels some of that in their own lives!
Merry Christmas to you all! Enjoy your family time. Praying for more good news updates for Summer!
Merry Christmas to the Stahl family! So happy that you made it home fr a few days Summer! Will continue praying for you and your entire family. Safe travels for you and your mom.
