Went to Jerry’s service tonight in Bloomington. For those that don’t know… Jerry was the oldest sibling of my Dad. He was having some health problems the last year or so, and really degraded over the past month.
Its sad that THIS is the only picture I could find of Jerry besides some old school pictures that Steve had sent me years ago. Above: Don and the Damon Fowler Group played Springfield IL… The whole Stahl clan made the trek down to hear him. Great time!
I never really knew Jerry. What I did know always made me want to keep “arms length” from the guy. He was greatly loved by his siblings. I think they had a relationship forged in the fires of disastrous parenting. The kids were VERY close knit. Almost to the point where you felt like you must be missing part of the conversation when they talked amongst themselves. Jerry had a laugh and smile that really reminded me of Grandpa Pete. I could see the resemblance… Even in the way they make jokes. I was sure that I would get to look ahead some day to compare the 2 in later life. Sadly it is not to be. I will remember this, he was always laughing or having a good time. I never saw the guy down, sad or mad. He had a natural energy to his personality that seemed to make people gravitate towards him.
I mean this from the bottom of my heart… May Jerry rest in peace. If anyone ever needed and deserved that… Jerry does.
